The Conference Privacy and the Control of Knowledge in the Era of Big Data will examine the the rule of law in times of crisis by addressing the delicate relationship between privacy and control of knowledge in the era of big data.
The morning session, chaired by C. Sganga (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), will consist in an Introduction to the subject, by G. Comandé (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), and three further talks: D. Pedreschi (Università di Pisa), will discuss Human Artificial Intelligence: Open the BlackBox of AI, A. Mantelero (Università di Torino) will talk about The unaddressed challenges of AI: Going beyond the GDPR, while C. Monda (University of Maastricht) will focus on Accountability: From data management to responsible use of data, and S. Ruggieri (Università di Pisa) will deal with Fairness and accountability.
In the afternoon session, chaired by E. Palmerini (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), G. Resta (Università di Roma Tre) will discuss Territoriality and universality in privacy protection, C. Mak (University of Amsterdam) will talk about Privacy protection between fundamental rights and private law, and P. de Hert (VUB) will analyse The recent data protection reform and big data: a missed rendez-vous? That can’t be true!, followed by a final Discussion and Conclusions.
