TERESA ANDREANI
Teresa is a jurist who graduated from the University of Trento with a thesis titled “The protection of Health in the constitutional project of substantive equality: genesis, crisis and evolution of the Italian National Health Service.” She also studied as an international student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
She joined our Ph.D. after several research and work experiences, such as at the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable Development of the Council of Europe (PACE – SOC, Strasbourg), the Institute for Social Research (IRS, Milan), and the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK, Trento).
Her research examines the fundamental social right to health, healthcare systems, health and care services integration, and long-term care for non-self-sufficient elderly people and people with disabilities from the Italian Constitutional Law and Comparative Public Law perspective.
ANDREA BLATTI
Andrea graduated summa cum laude in Law at the University of Trento in March 2023, discussing a thesis on data protection focused on liability and accountability regimes within the IoT ecosystem, which earned him a publication. During his university years, Andrea focused mainly on IT and IP Law. He studied abroad in Passau for the Erasmus+ program and in Hannover for a summer law school on ICT Law. Andrea was also a data protection advisor at the student association JeTN and a consultant for JeTN-related companies; he was awarded the best legislative project by ELSA Trento in the Open Legislation competition of 2017.
Beyond the law, he has worked in the front office, personal security services, dogsitting, and more.
As for his research, he studies the applications of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector, particularly the liability and accountability regimes of healthcare facilities and doctors.
FEDERICO D’ORAZIO
Federico graduated summa cum laude in Law at Roma Tre University in December 2022, discussing a thesis on the contractual protection of secrecy and its relationship with public interests. During his studies, he took part in the Erasmus+ Programme studying at the University of Edinburgh.
After graduating, he attended a II-level Master’s Course at the Political Sciences Faculty of Sapienza University of Rome and, in June 2023, a summer school at the University of Salamanca with a scholarship funded by the EU. Moreover, he interned at the Attorney General’s Office in Rome.
His main research fields encompass Comparative Private Law and Comparative Legal Systems, and his research project deals with the regulation of secrecy in the private and public sectors by focusing on the cases in which secrecy might conflict with the public interest and the protection of fundamental rights.
JOCK PETER GARDINER
Jock obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Pol Sci/History) and Bachelor of Laws with first-class honors at the Australian National University. After several years practicing Law at the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department and as an Associate in the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, Jock went on to pursue his LLM at Utrecht University, where he graduated cum laude in 2022.
While completing his LLM and before he arrived at Sant’Anna, Jock worked as a research assistant for the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights and as a Parliamentary Lawyer for the Parliament of New South Wales, Australia. Jock’s Ph.D. research focuses on the role of constitutional conventions in the European Constitutional order.
FABIO GAROFALO MCBRITTON
Fabio graduated summa cum laude in Law at the University of Trento in September 2022, discussing a thesis titled “Conditionality and European economic governance: the ESM.”
During his undergraduate career, he attended the Transnational Law Program at Washington University in St. Louis, where he obtained an LL.M. in U.S. Law in 2017, focusing on public and economic policies. He also took an active role in the academic and associative life of Trento’s University, particularly as a student representative.
His main research interests encompass European Law, Constitutional Law, social welfare, and the interplay between Law and economics, especially macroeconomics.
His Ph.D. project is aimed at the implementation of Amartya Sen’s capability approach to the study of European economic governance, broadening the informational basis considered in the analysis and drafting of European economic policies and the related institutional framework.
GUILHERME MIGLIORA
Guilherme Migliora obtained his Bachelor of Laws in 2016 at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro. After graduating, he practiced Law as a certified attorney for several years and worked in some of Brazil’s most prestigious litigation law firms. In 2020, he was admitted to the Advanced LLM in Law and Digital Technologies at Leiden University.
After completing the LLM, Guilherme worked as a program assistant for the e-Law department at Leiden University. He volunteers for a Brazilian NGO that helps vulnerable people with legal issues. His research focuses on the regulation of online hate speech and platform power.
GIORGIA VALENTINI
Giorgia Valentini graduated summa cum laude in Law at Luiss University in Rome in April 2022 with a final thesis titled “Overpopulation: between environmental protection and reproductive freedom.” She obtained an LLM in Law and Technology in Europe at Utrecht University, with a final thesis in Technology and the Rule of Law that dealt with the regulation of Artificial Intelligence under the EU legal framework, with a particular focus on the education sector and the implementation of AI-embedded educational technologies by public education institutions.
Giorgia has interned in two Law Firms in Rome and undergone the traineeship ex. Art. 73 d.l. 69/2013 in the local Court of Appeal.
She collaborated as a research assistant in the ERC-funded Research Project “REPGOV Government Through Democratic Governance” hosted by IBEI University in Barcelona.
Her research interests span from Environmental Law, Climate Justice, and intergenerational justice from Public Law and Legal Philosophy perspectives to broader Constitutional and Public Law topics, with particular attention to the interweaving between different legal systems.
